DIY FACIAL TREATS

Create soothing facial creams and cleansers to pamper your skin. These recipes are super-cheap (you use ingredients found in your kitchen or at the grocery mart), they are all-natural, and best of all, they feel and work great!

OATMEAL CLEANSER

What You'll Need:

-Aloe vera (available in big jars at pharmacies for just a few bucks)

-1 Tablespoon of uncooked oatmeal

Mix a quarter-sized blob of aloe vera with the uncooked oatmeal. Stir it around with a spoon, or your fingers, until it's mixed well and then spread the paste on your face and cleanse! Move your fingers in little circles all over your face, rubbing gently but firmly. Wash off with lukewarm water and pat, don't rub, dry.

CUCUMBER EYE SOOTHER

What You'll Need:

-A few slices of cucumber

If your eyes are puffy from not enough sleep, bloating or from crying, cut a couple of slices of cucumber. Lie down and put the cuke slices over your closed eyes, leaving them there for about 5 minutes. You'll notice the difference!

AVOCADO OR PAPAYA MOISTURIZER

What You'll Need:

-1 avocado or 1 papaya

-1 Tablespoon of plain yogurt (regular, not low-fat)

-1 egg

Cut the avocado or papaya (both work equally well) in half. Put away one half (or eat it!) and mash the other half in a bowl with a fork. Add the plain yogurt and add one egg white. (To separate an egg, crack in half on the side of the sink, keeping the halves together. Then carefully hold over a bowl and slowly pour the white stuff over the edges, using the shells to catch the yolk before it falls in. If the yolk ends up in the bowl, it's not a disaster - just scoop it out with a spoon). Mix it all together and use your fingers to smooth it all over your face, rubbing gently but firmly with your fingertips. Leave it on for 5 minutes or so, then rinse off with lukewarm water and pat your face dry.
